Abstract
A new cadmium(II) complex Cd2(OH)2(p-BDOA) (p-BDOA = benzene-1,4-dioxydiacetate) (1) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by element analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, thermal, raman spectra and luminescent analysis. X-ray crystallographic studies reveal that complex 1 displays a novel dinuclear unit in which two cadmium ions are bridged by deprotonated μ6-bridging flexible benzene-1,4-dioxydiacetic acid and μ3-OH. In 1, the dinuclear units are further assembled into a 2D supramolecular framework by flexible symmetric ligand benzene-1,4-dioxydiacetate, hydrogen bonding and CâHâ¯Ï stacking interactions. In the solid state, complex 1 shows blue photoluminescent properties at room temperature.
