Abstract

The reaction of N-[(E)-(4-chlorophenyl)methylidene]-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-amine (ClPhtrz), 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bipy) and Cu(An)2·6H2O (An = ClO4− or BF4−) in MeCN/H2O yields two 1-D coordination polymers, namely ∞1{[Cu(4,4′-bipy)(ClPhtrz)2(H2O)2](An)2·2CH3CN}∞1{[Cu(4,4′-bipy)(ClPhtrz)2(H2O)2](An)2·2CH3CN}, (An = ClO4− (1), BF4− (2). In both compounds triazole ligands are monodently coordinated to metal center. Similar reaction with Cu(NO3)2·3H2O affords ∞1{[Cu(4,4′-bipy)(CH3CN)(H2O)(NO3)](NO3)}∞1{[Cu(4,4′-bipy)(CH3CN)(H2O)(NO3)](NO3)} (3). Unexpectedly the triazole ligand is not observed in the final product.
