Abstract
Six new macrocyclic complexes were synthesized by template reaction of salicylaldehyde derivatives with 1,4-bis(3-aminopropoxy)butane and metal(II) nitrate. The metal to ligand ratio of the complexes was found to be 1:1. The Cu(II) complexes are proposed to be square planar and the Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes are proposed to be tetrahedral geometry. Macrocyclic complexes are 1:2 electrolytes as shown by their molar conductivities (ÎM) in DMF (dimethylformamide) of 10â3Â M solution. The structure of metal complexes is proposed from elemental analysis, FTIR, UV-vis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity measurements and mass spectra.
