Abstract
A photoluminescent supramolecular compound [Cd(Hbic)2(H2O)]·(4,4â²-bpy)·H2O, H2bic = 1-H-benzimidazole-5-carboxylic acid, has been synthesized and structurally characterized. With CH-Ï stacking and hydrogen bond, the 4,4â²-bipyridine is used as template to construct the neighboring layers into a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. Solid-state emission spectrum of compound 1 shows luminescence with emission peak at 565 nm.
