Abstract
A novel coordination polymer [Ni(bic)2]n, Hbic=1-H-benzimidazole-5-carboxylic acid, has been obtained through self-assembly of Ni(NO3)2·6H2O with Hbic and characterized by IR spectra and elemental analysis. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that it is a 1D ladder-like structure, which is further assembled by other bicâ ions to form 2D framework. Complex Ni(bic)2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbcn, with a=12.366(4), b=15.232(5), c=15.191(5) Ã
, α=90(0), β=90(0), γ=90(0)° and Z=8. Magnetic property study indicates that there is weak antiferromagnetic coupling interaction between Ni(II) ions.
