Abstract
A non-mathematical formulation is given of possible multiple (not just ±Ï) geometric phase-jumps around conical intersections. It is based on variable cycling speed along the nuclear trajectory and on a rigorous handling of the adiabatic limit. Extremely high value Ï jumps occur even for a single conical intersection, if the trajectory starts near the degeneracy point.
