Abstract
We evaluate the enhancement factor of the effective mass, mâ/m, for polarons in a crystal composed of either the E â e or the T â t Jahn-Teller (JT) centers in the strong-coupling region. A much larger mâ/m is found in the T â t JT polarons than that in the E â e ones. This difference originates from the absence/presence of rotational symmetry in the pseudospin space representing the degeneracy of orbitals at each JT center.
