Abstract

•We have obtained xLi2O–(1-x)(0.75B2O3–0.25SiO2) glasses with x up to 70 mol%.•Glass properties show an anomalous behavior at the point of 62.5 mol% of Li2O.•This behavior is caused by the boron anomaly in the glass.

Lithium ion conducting glasses in xLi2O–(1-x)(0.75B2O3–0.25SiO2) system have been obtained and studied in the x range from 50 to 67.5 mol%. The influence of the lithium oxide content on the glass transition temperature (Tg), crystallisation temperature (Tc), density, structure and ionic conductivity has been investigated. We establish that the anomalous behavior of the properties is observed at the point with Li2O concentration of 62.5 mol%. The value of maximal conductivity at room temperature is 3.6 ⋅ 10− 6 S/cm for the glass containing 65.0 mol% of lithium oxide.
