Abstract
We replaced Se in Ge11.5As24Se64.5 glasses with S, and prepared several Ge11.5As24S64.5 · xSe64.5 · (1 − x) glasses with x = 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, respectively, in order to improve the laser damage threshold in the glasses. Through the results of various measurements, we concluded that the substitution of Se with S in the glasses has negligible effect on glass transition temperature Tg and elastic properties. However, this could change the optical band gap and linear and nonlinear refractive indices of the glasses and significantly improve the laser damage threshold.
