Abstract
⺠Crystalline shells formed in diopside glass powders lead to elastic stresses. ⺠Elastic stresses result in a switch from the diopside to a wollastonite-like phase. ⺠With an increase of the crystalline layer, pores are formed in the diopside glass. ⺠The generalized Gibbs approach yields correct results for the nucleation process. ⺠Such processes are expected to be of general relevance for sintering.
