Abstract

Intra and intermolecular interactions between the components in the mixture of anisole and isobutanol and their concentration and temperature dependence have been reported using dielectric relaxation and viscometric studies. Permittivity and dielectric loss of the samples are determined by using microwave bench and they are used to calculate the relaxation time using Higasi and Cole–Cole models. Activation free energies, change in enthalpy and entropy due to both relaxation mechanism and viscous forces have been calculated. At all studied temperatures, positive values of enthalpy are obtained for the entire range of concentration studied whereas negative values of entropy are found to exist for maximum of concentrations. Investigation shows that the dielectric parameters vary with variation in temperature and concentration. Variations of the dielectric parameters are interpreted as per the available theory.
