Abstract
We review results recently obtained for translationally invariant (TI) discretizations of Klein–Gordon and nonlinear Schrödinger equations. In TI discrete nonlinear models, the static (stationary) coherent structures can be placed anywhere with respect to the lattice. This property is also associated with the absence of the Peierls–Nabarro potential.
