Abstract
Crystallization behavior of MgO–Al2O3–SiO2 system glasses doped with NiO was investigated by means of differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The infrared radiation property of this material was examined via the measurement of the whole-band normal direction emissivity. The results demonstrate that the adding of NiO can suppress the precipitation of μ-cordierite and promote the crystallization of α-cordierite in MgO–Al2O3–SiO2 glasses. As the Ni2+ incorporated into the crystal structure of α-cordierite, the infrared radiance of this material can be improved and the whole-band normal direction emissivity can reach 0.90.
