Abstract
The work reports a study to investigate practical methods by which iodine capture from the vapour phase and subsequent conversion to stable wasteforms may be achieved. Iodine loaded commercial silver exchanged zeolite has been shown to convert to silver sodalite after hot isostatic pressing. The composition of the fully iodine loaded material is such that an excess of silver iodide particles forms during thermal conversion. Attempts to fabricate a mixed sodium silver sodalite have been unsuccessful.
