Abstract
⺠We study laser heating and ablation of a graphite tile with a deposited carbon layer. ⺠The experimental results are simulated with an analytical model of laser heating. ⺠The assessment of the carbon layer parameters is made from the theoretical fitting. ⺠It is shown that the ablation mechanisms for graphite and the layer are different.
