Abstract
⺠Three-dimensional finite element models are developed. ⺠The variation of fuel particle-particle distances and the variation of particle-cladding distances are considered. ⺠The developed virtual temperature method is applied. ⺠The thermal and mechanical solutions are obtained. ⺠The effects of the heterogeneous distributions of fuel particles are investigated.
