Abstract

The study explores the efficacy of NCFS Azadirachta indica leaf powder as an effective adsorbent for the abatement of Cd (II) and Ni (II) from their single metal solution. The resulting novel nano biomaterial was found to enhance the sorption efficiency [2-15%] and stability in terms of regeneration cycles [3 to 5]. Characterization of the designed nano biomaterial was provided on the basis of SEM, FTIR and TGA. Resulting information can be utilized as less expensive, environment friendly method with enhanced sorption efficacy and environmental stability for removal of toxic metal from contaminated water particularly for the rural and remote areas of the Country. The significant sorption properties of the Azadirachta indica nano fiber for various toxic metals have already been established in our laboratory. Resulted nano biomaterial exhibits sorption efficiency of Cd (II): 96.23% and Ni (II): 84.12% and stability in terms of regeneration cycles.
