Abstract

The present study is concerned with resolving issues pertaining to problems involving engine oil and its effective performance. It recommends the usage of a Nano fluid prepared with engine oil as the base fluid, possessing better and enhanced thermo-physical, lubrication properties compared to base engine oil. MWCNTs and Zinc Oxide nanoparticles having volume fraction 0.005%, 0.02%, respectively, were dispersed along with Gum Arabic surfactant in SAE 20W40 engine oil. Tribological properties such as wear resistance, friction coefficient and thermo-physical properties such as thermal conductivity, viscosity, flash point of resulting Nano lubricant were evaluated and were compared with that of plain engine oil.
