Abstract

The limited size and high density of surface sites that characterize nanoparticles result in unique chemical and physical properties. Magnesium aluminum mixed oxide was synthesized by co-precipitation method using Al2 (SO4)3.16H2O and MgSO4.7H2O precursors in 1:1 molar ratio. The calcination temperature was varied from 250, 300 and 700oC. Nanoparticles synthesized were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and TGA-DTA. At low temperature synthesized spherical particles are amorphous and they start to transform into spinel crystalline structure around 650°C. Generally particle size increased with increase in temperature.
