Abstract
Throughout the course of the nanoparticle synthesis, the surfactant determines the size and stability of the nanoparticles. This study serves to determine the specific nanoparticle-ligand electrostatic interaction. Monte Carlo simulations were conducted to investigate the stabilisation effect of an 11 aminoundecanoic acid (AUA) surfactant-chain on magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles. In the simulations, the AUA surfactant chain was adsorbed onto the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles with sizes in the range of 0.5 nm to 2.9 nm (Radius = 5.0 Å to 14.5 Å).
