Abstract

The effect of hydrostatic pressure on the optical properties of donor impurity of a GaAs quantum have been studied with the square well confinement using varational method within the single band effective mass approximation. The optical properties like optical absorption and refractive index were discussed. Analytical expressions for the linear and third-order nonlinear, total absorption coefficient and refractive index changes have been obtained. Our results show that the optical absorption coefficients and refractive index strongly depend on the incident optical intensity and the pressure. The optical properties changes as the function of normalized photon energy between the ground and the first excited state in the presence of pressure are investigated. All the calculations have been carried out with are discussed in the light of the exciting literature.
