Abstract
► We investigated the effects of intrinsic vacancy in graphene-like ZnO nanosheets. ► O vacancy has no influence in ZnO, whereas the Zn vacancy leads spin polarization. ► Two Zn vacancies show ferromagnetic due to O(2p)-Zn(3d)-O(2p) coupling chain.
