Abstract
MgZnO nanostructural arrays were successfully grown on Au/Si substrates in an aqueous solution by using a homemade electrodeposition system. The morphology of MgZnO films was changed from nanorods to nanoparticle and sheet-like shape with increasing the quantity of the Mg source. However, the crystal structures of MgZnO nanostructures have been maintained as hexagonal wurtzite. With the increase of Mg concentration in aqueous solution, the photoluminescence peak position was increased from 3.31 eV to 3.37 eV. This blue shift was due to the increase of Mg incorporation in MgZnO crystal structure. Therefore, the observed results emphasize that it is possible to tune the band gap of MgZnO films through electrodeposition.
