A simple method, using an additive compound, for improving bioelectrocatalytic current based on a direct electron transfer reaction between laccase (Lac) and a graphene nanoplatelet-film electrode was demonstrated. Sodium dihydrogen phosphate (NaH2PO4), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), or glucose as an additive compound was added to the paste of graphene nanoplatelet for preparation process of a graphene nanoplatelet-film electrode. The additive compound was eluted eventually. The development of porous structure was detected by adsorption and desorption isotherms of N2, when NaH2PO4 was used. Furthermore, an improvement of bioelectrocatalytic current and the positive potential shift of the onset potential of O2 reduction were observed.
