Abstract
•We present applications of resistive pulse sensing for counting and sizing species.•An overview of theoretical models for interpretation of current traces is given.•Restrictions in terms of achievable detection limit are described.•The main strategies for selective detection are described.
We discuss representative electrochemical nanopore sensing strategies, highlighting their underlying theoretical principles and limitations.
