Photoelectrochemical (PEC) bioanalysis has attracted considerable research interest due to its desirable properties, and its rapid evolution has resulted in great progress in bioanalytical applications. This mini review aims to provide a snapshot of the introductory concepts and main principles of PEC bioanalysis, as well as the basic classification of the established signaling strategies with recent illustrative examples.
