Abstract
Worm-like PtCo nanotubes are synthesized by galvanic exchange reaction using Co nanowires as templates. As a novel electrocatalyst for methanol oxidation, the as-prepared PtCo nanotubes display better activity and stability compared with commercial Pt/C catalyst.
► PtCo nanotubes were synthesized using Co nanowires as template. ► Abundant nanoflakes exist on each PtCo nanotube, forming worm-like shape. ► This is the first report on the electrochemical properties of PtCo nanotubes. ► PtCo nanotube catalyst shows good stability.
