The ternary compound cobalt antimony sulfide (CoSbS; mineral name: paracostibite) and CoSbS/C nanocomposite were prepared using simple solid-state synthetic routes, and their potential as electrode materials for rechargeable Li batteries was investigated. The reaction mechanism between CoSbS and Li was examined using ex situ X-ray diffraction and extended X-ray absorption fine structure analyses. The fabricated CoSbS/C nanocomposite electrode exhibited good electrochemical performances such as high capacity, long cycling behavior, and high rate capability.
