Periodically structured Fe2O3 films are successfully fabricated by anodizing Fe foils using sinusoidally modulated current waveforms. The fabricated Fe2O3 films possess nanopores and long-range structural periodicities which can be conveniently adjusted by tuning the anodization parameters. Strong optical response and vivid film color were readily observed on the fabricated Fe2O3 films.
