Stabilized lithium metal powder (SLMP) is an innovative technology to provide electrochemically rechargeable lithium resources for both lithium-ion and lithium metal batteries. SLMP can offer a very high capacity as 3600 mAh/g, which is more efficient to amend the initial capacity loss than either lithium rich cathode or lithium sacrificial salt. The battery performances of both graphite/spinel and hard carbon/spinel have been significantly improved by prelithiation of the anode using SLMP.
Research Highlights►Designed a novel electrochemical cells to demonstrate SLMP capacity experimentally. ►SLMP is much more efficient than lithium rich cathode and lithium sacrificial salts. ►SLMP can significantly improve the battery performances including both energy and cycle performance. ►Demonstrated the benefits of SLMP by using different types of anode.
