Abstract

On the basis of its adsorption capacity, O2-plasma oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (poMWCNTs) was found to be useful for Cd(II) and Pb(II) detection. The surface morphology of poMWCNTs was examined by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The detection was performed by the square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). The interference and stability were investigated under the optimized conditions.

► We examine the detection of Pb(II) and Cd(II) using poMWCNTs. ► We study the adsorption capacity of poMWCNTs on its electrochemical sensing behavior. ► Stripping signals will increase if adsorption of poMWCNTs toward metal ions is positive. ► poMWCNTs can adsorb Cd(II) and Pb(II). ► poMWCNTs could be used for electrochemical detection of Cd(II) and Pb(II).
