Abstract
In order to simulate pitting current transient, a cellular automata (CA) model is reported in this paper, which involves a series of evolution rules. Block algorithm is used in this model to speed up simulation process. Different current transients for pitting metastable growth and stable growth are obtained by setting different simulation factors. The variation of simulated current transient or iR with time is found to be related to the statement of the pitting growth for stainless steel. The simulation demonstrates that metastable pit growth is likely controlled by anodic reaction.
