Abstract
The influence of external homogeneous magnetic fields during electrochemical metal deposition in cuboid cells is shortly reviewed. By analytical means, supported by numerical simulations, it is shown that a simplified 2D approach is often misleading and has to be replaced by a more complex 3D treatment as only the solenoidal part of the Lorentz force can cause convection.
