Abstract
We show that linearized Poisson–Boltzmann approximation for the calculation of potential distribution in electrochemical nano-gap is good for qualitative estimates needed to describe their current–voltage characteristics. The nonlinearity of response is to a high degree compensated by various effects of ion exclusion from the gap.
