Abstract
We propose a novel design for a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) by using micromachining technologies. Thirteen micro DMFCs were fabricated on a photosensitive glass substrate containing a micro-holes array (diameter = 50–200 μm). Our concept is that a high voltage DMFC can be achieved by the integration of the micro DMFC array on one substrate. The first purpose of the experimental trials was to verify the feasibility of the novel structure. Preliminary testing results show that our new DMFC design is useful as a miniature DMFC.
