Abstract
A theoretical review is presented of hypernuclear weak decay, with special emphasis on the non–mesonic modes. We focus on recent progress which lead to the solution of long–standing puzzles on the Γn/Γp ratio and on the asymmetry parameter. Perspectives for the future are also indicated.
