Abstract

A separable pairing interaction is introduced in the covariant density functional theory. The parameters of the separable force are adjusted to reproduce the pairing properties of the Gogny force in nuclear matter. Applying well known techniques of Talmi and Moshinsky this finite range separable pairing interaction is adopted to study the pairing properties of finite nuclei in the relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov and quasiparticle random phase approximation. We conclude that with this new pairing force the superfluid of finite nuclei can be well depicted on almost the same footing as with the original Gogny pairing interaction.
