Abstract
Using the reaction 170Yb(16O, 4n) at a beam energy of 87 MeV and the Recoil Distance Doppler-Shift Method, five lifetimes in the yrast band of 182Pt have been determined for the first time. For the data analysis, a dedicated version of the Differential Decay Curve Method has been employed. Calculations within the Interacting Boson Model and the General Collective Model indicate shape coexistence in the investigated nucleus.
