Abstract

Incoherent eta meson electroproduction off the deuteron is studied in the impulse approximation (IA) or spectator model in which the eta production takes place on a single nucleon inside the deuteron while the other nucleon acts as a spectator only, i.e., neglecting eta rescattering on the spectator nucleon and nucleon two-body effects. The elementary operator for eta electroproduction off a nucleon is taken from the MAID analysis. The semi-exclusive structure functions, determining the differential cross section of the outgoing eta meson without detection of the final nucleons, are calculated and their dependence on the squared four momentum transfer K2 and the lab energy transfer are studied.
