Abstract

We present an analysis of a large set of deuteron induced reactions within the continuum discretized coupled channels framework. The data set includes spherical and near-spherical targets ranging from 16O to 208Pb and spans the energy range from 3 to 200 MeV. We perform calculations using both Koning–Delaroche and CH89 global parameterizations for the nucleon-target optical potentials and we show that these parameterizations provide satisfactory agreement with the experimental data. Nevertheless some discrepancies are observed for the heaviest targets at low incident energies. We show that the agreement with the experimental differential cross sections can be improved for the heaviest nuclei by introducing a more accurate treatment of the Coulomb interaction.
