Abstract
Three-particle azimuthal correlations can be used to explore the away-side structure of jets in heavy ion collisions. The combinatorial background in such measurements has angular structure similar to the signal. This paper discusses two different techniques for subtracting the backgrounds. A simple simulation model is used for illustration. A brief review of the current experimental results is also given.
