Abstract
A method to discriminate direct photons and decay photons at high pT in d+Au collisions at RHIC is investigated. Azimuthal correlation measurements of charged tracks with a high-pT tower in the STAR Barrel Electromagnetic Calorimeter (BEMC) are presented. The Shower Maximum Detector (SMD) is used to enrich the trigger sample in direct photons. The near-side yield for narrow showers is significantly reduced as expected for an enhancement of direct photon triggers. The method is intended to be used to study photon-tagged jets via the away-side correlation.
