A double superconducting solenoid system (RIBRAS) for the production of secondary light exotic nuclear beams was installed at the São Paulo Pelletron Laboratory of the University of São Paulo, Brazil. The two solenoids are presently operating in one of the beam lines of the 8 MV Tandem Accelerator. Secondary beams of 8Li and 6He were produced using a 7Li primary beam and a production target of 9Be. These beams were impinged on targets of 27Al, 51V and 197Au and the scattered radioactive nuclei were detected in Si telescopes. Elastic scattering angular distributions were measured at several energies close and above the Coulomb barrier. The angular distributions were analysed with optical potentials and reaction cross sections were obtained from the optical model calculations.
