Abstract
The normal phase of dense quark matter allows a systematic low energy expansion even in the strong coupling regime relevant for the physics of compact stars. I present the main ideas that lead to this conclusion and discuss how the expansion can be used to obtain qualitative strong coupling results for bulk properties of dense matter.
