Abstract
We describe how the T2K near detector will be used to measure the neutrino interaction cross sections necessary for T2K to reach the final precision for its νe-appearance and νμ-disappearance results. We then present the first near detector cross section result, for charged current inclusive scattering of muon neutrinos, based on data taken during 2010 and 2011 and corresponding to 1.08×1020 protons on target.
