Abstract
The SuperB project is presented. The physics motivation for the high luminosity of SuperB is discussed. It includes the need for a luminosity in excess of 1036 cm−2 s−1 to integrate more than 75ab−1 in 5 years. The advantage of one polarized beam for lepton flavor violation in tau decays and the option of running at open Charm threshold in asymmetric mode for studying time dependent asymmetries in D0 decays. The basic concept of the SuperB machine is described and preliminary results on the crab waist from the recent accelerator tests in Frascati are also reported.
