Abstract

The Antares collaboration is building a high energy neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean Sea, 40 km off the French coasts. By end 2007, the detector will be a 3-dimensional array of 12 lines equipped with 900 photomultipliers, installed on a 200×200 m2 area at a depth of 2500 m. On March 2nd, 2006, the first of the twelve lines was successfully connected to the deep undersea junction box, and since then data arrive at the shore station continuously. First results on detector operation and downgoing muon detection are presented.
