Abstract

Neutrinoless double beta (ββ0ν) decay has become an area of interest of the neutrino physics community. A new generation of ββ-experiments is under design or construction to provide clear and unambiguous evidence for double beta decay, should it exist. These experiments aim to optimize the key aspects of ββ0ν-experiments: source strength, detection efficiency, energy resolution, and background. This article will focus on tracking detectors, with emphasis on the EXO experiment.
