Abstract

These proceedings summarize a talk given at the Tau 2008 meeting in Novosibirsk, Russia, September 21–25, 2008. We report on the current status of the O(α2) and O(α3) hadronic contributions, calculated on the lattice, to the muon g−2 which arise from the hadronic vacuum polarization and light-by-light scattering. An attempt to calculate the light-by-light contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment in QED, using lattice techniques, as a first step toward computing the analogous hadronic contribution is discussed.
