Modern aspects of nuclear structure theory

I review recent progress in constructing high-precision nucleon–nucleon potentials and multi-nucleon forces from Chiral Perturbation Theory. In conjunction with ab-initio many-body approaches a consistent framework is in reach to understand the structure of nuclei on the basis of Quantum Chromodynamics.
